A reasonable price depends on what you need. That said, expect to pay at least
£50 a year in the UK if you want any kind of reliability and decent service.
Hosting abroad may be cheaper, but if most of your users are in the UK they may
get slightly slower access to your site.
Expect to pay more for database and scripting support, secure servers, lots of
email addresses and other extras, and look out for uptime guarantees. 99%
uptime still means that a site can be down for over 3 days every year. Scour
magazines and webmaster forums for comparison charts.
If your website is critical for your business it can be a minefield, and it's
better to pay more for good support and reliability, although paying more
doesn't guarantee this. Although hosts tend to divide up their packages
according to bandwidth and webspace requirements, you will also be paying for
good security, support, connection speed, and other extras. Price per MB isn't
everything.
