I've been getting an email claming to come from 'admin@heropr.com'
(which doesn't exist obviously as I administer that site) wishing to
discuss "my account" of which details are contained within a zip
file.

Anyone come across this particular virus M.O. before?

yep - the b*st*rd thing was flooding one of my mailboxes (now deceased) a
while back. But worse it also made it to many of my clients - no bad thing
really I suppose, it gave them all an excuse to call me ;o)

I get it regularly from the admin account at probertencyclopaedia dot
com. Telling me my email address is being closed down.

Funny thing, I run the server and account!

And here I thought I had seen everything. I have not had this problem yet.
Only problem I have had is people sending spam putting fake email addresses

Speaking of new virisus I am constantly recieving a mail from
"Microsoft" that is an exact replica of what there web page/email would look
with an attatchment to update my microsoft program. Getting about 4 a day
along with about 6 MailerDaemons, can not return to this address:
blabla.DeleteThis@blamail.com , also with an email attachment. I sent a letter to
powerlink my adelphia cable internet provider and they said microsoft
doesn't send email updates

I try blocking sender, but they always send threw a new name. Anyone know
any good spam killer programs that anyone knows about that could take care
of this problem, gets annoying weeding threw the crap. Although i usually
just delete the ones with the attachment icon next to them..

It's the Swen virus. Do not execute the attachment.

You're still top-posting.

Any where I can get more info on it?

Whos article/name should I post under about this, my post was all the way
down on the bottom.

Don't be dense, and listen...

Top-posting has nothing to do with the position of your message in the
list of messages you see in your newsreader. Top-posting has nothing to
do with replying to a certain message in order to get yours to appear "at
the bottom" of a message list. Forget about the message list.

Instead, visualize a single post. This post for instance.

You hit reply, and instead of typing where your newsreader places the
cursor (in this case, at the top near the line "On Sun, 19 Oct 2003
03:14:40 GMT, Murphy <murph85 DeleteThis @adelphia.net> wrote:") scroll down and type
in the space *after* the text of my message. See? I will even include a
handy reference to show you exactly where the reply to the message should
be typed. Enjoy:

<sheesh> Now your copying the text from below and duplicating it at the
top! You are not only top-posting, you're *double-posting*!

I quit.

It's just another internet virus. But if you really want to know more
about the types of attacks your PC may come under, take a look at the
book "Hack Attacks Revealed" published by Wiley. And then invest in a
firewall (I recommend the free Sygate personal firewall).

Online, try:
