This may not be the right place to post this question I have.
I have done some search on this topic, can not find it in the official docs
or else where.
Question is about the GENERALLY ACCEPTED ethics & protocol of the Forum
Moderator role...
Is it ethical or right for Moderator to announce to the whole community that
member X & member Y are the same person WITHOUT PROVOCATION ??? ie that the
member has 2 screennames but he never flames or trolls or cuss using another
alias.
Is it right for the moderator to just look up IP history because he
apparently has nothing better to do but to check up on people so he can bust
them for NO REASON ?
If you can point to me so kind of "official" guidelines for vBulletin
Moderators, I appreciate >> Stay informed about: vBulletin Moderator Ethics Guideline |

Maybe not, but one would wonder why a forum attendee would need two
identities.
Hmmm...to chat with ones self during the slow times?
> Is it right for the moderator to just look up IP history because he

If he has nothing better to do...that's a personal problem
I for one wish everything would return to numerical IP's and drop the whole
namebased identity thing. Would seriously cut down on the spoofing,
virii..etc.
Got an issue..track the IP. Easy.
So, you got whacked. The question is, are you going to be man enough to
say...so what? Or try to prove a point that won't really matter in the long
run.

And Robert, you are a ....?
(Tee hee, just being silly, not mean. I have been known to have more
than one user name myself, in various places--but they represent
*true* parts of my multi-personality.)

"Robert" <rchin.RemoveThis@nospampanix.com> emerged reluctantly from the

Their board, their hosting, their rules. Tough shit.

thanks for input.
I asked these Q because Im a bit of a noob on vBulletin kind of forum.
But I am not new to the Net & its ettiquets.
IMO, one Mod's behavior was totally out of line. He has got to be one of
those
OCD type glowing in his admin power.
He discovered my 2nd screen name & instead of PM me & "have a word with me"
he went right ahead & announced to the whole site & described how I
"slipped"
Like I said in original post, I have no beef with the guy or anyone and have
never been "personna-non-grata", don't flame, don't troll....I am Asian & as
culturally trained generally keep a low profile.
The result of his action launched a all-out frontal assault of teasing &
bashing by
a whole bunch of 20-something. (PWNED party...sigh)
BTW: I created 2nd account because someone accused me of "dropping the
N-bomb"
I did not think it was wise to argue so I created 2nd account to make
defensive comments.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: vBulletin Moderator Ethics Guideline |

Often it's better to say...cya...and find a new venue.
Most relationships born on many forums are just smoke and mirrors.
aww.webmaster is the anomoly.

My son has OCD. He's always worried about hurting someone's feelings or
making someone upset. So, I'm not sure what you meant by that comment.

That's exactly what I did.
I posted a final messsage in the bashing thread in which I fessed up
& pointed out that I been harmless, go no enemies....and that
always liked forum...blah blah.
I said that I was "banishing myself and my others...bye bye smilie"
some of those hyperactive kids actually said they're sorry it has come to
this...<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: vBulletin Moderator Ethics Guideline |

There's bugger all you can do though... if someone runs a baord, it's
totally up to the board moderators and owners to do whatever they like
to anyone they like. You're on THEIR board after all, on THEIR server...

Got it. But i would differ on the MODERATORS
they are chosen by the Administrator(s), No ?
It's the Admin who are the real "owner", no ?
But never mind all that....my question is about
the generally accepted conduct & responsibilities of the MODs
That's what I question, not who has the power to do what.
