No IIS tools in Administrative Tools

Post subject: No IIS tools in Administrative Tools

I am running WinXP Pro and want to set up my machine for web development.
I've installed IIS and I can run iisstart.asp on localhost but no iis tools
nor show in Administrative tools? Why not and how can I install them? 2nd
question: when I run http://127.0.0.1 it asks for a user name and password
but none has been set up? How can I set one up or get around it?

That's probably the administrative website that's set up by default. Either
delete it in the IIS snap-in (after installing it using Ken's suggestion) or
you can log in to it using your computer's administrator account.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

If you go to:

Start -> Settings -> Add/Remove Programs -> Windows Components -> Internet
Information Services, is the "Internet information Services management
snapin" option selected? That needs to be selected in order to install the
IIS Manager MMC Snapin.

After that is installed, you should see "Internet Information Services"
listed in your Admin Tools folder.
