Hey folks,

I have IIS6 configured to log visits, but what is the time reported
here? I am in in MST, but the log shows GMT. Is there any way to have the
log show my local time?

Dave

If you are using W3C Extended logging, then all timestamps will be in GMT.
This is part of the W3C logging specification, and there's nothing you can
do about it. Your web log analysis software should compensate for you. By
using GMT you avoid issues when you enter/leave daylight savings time, and
it makes comparing/aggregating logfiles easier if you have servers dispersed
in different time zones.

If you really want to use your local time, you will need to use one of the
other logging formats (eg IIS). Just make sure your weblog analysis software
can read that type of logfile.

Cheers
Ken

Hello David,

If the selected log file format is W3C Extended Log File Format, the date
and time stamp is in GMT. There are two solutions for this, change the
logging format, or use the convlog utility to add the GMT offset in the
logfiles. For more information, please look at KB Article 271196.

I'm in EST and I found the exact same thing! :> Not funny haha, but that
I'm not the only one, and I'm sure you won't be the last one. From what
I've heard/read, it's the logging standard to do it that way for the type of
logging your using. I believe the log analysis tools prefer the w3c format
to logging and they will change the times/dates for your viewing pleasure.
But there is the iis logging format if you don't care about analyzing

HTH. :> Have a good one! :><!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
