I have folders that have kanji names but they are being rejected by UrlScan
404 123 1188 509 16

is there a setting I can change to let someone browse a folder that is all
in kanji?

Thanks.

Folders and filenames better should be saved as ascii. Until windows 20003,
it is really difficult to have a real unicode environmnent.
Still, many robots and browsers do expect ascii file names and folders so
please try to keep compatibility with that. If you really need a unicode
environment, you should upgrade to win2003.
try this (it's russian but uses the same technique)...

You'll have to forgive me, but what do that ?????'s mean? That's what the
kanji shows up as on our server when someone is trying to browse the kanji
folder.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Exactly what I expect. If you run on winblows 9x or other programs that
simply do not support unicode, you'll see ??? because UTF-8 is not supported
on many systems. The kanji letters would be encoded using utf-8 URLs.
You just saw a live demonstration of incompatibilities.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

One person in particular uses XP with all the kanji support installed. Any
suggestion on how to get around it just for this one person and this one
directory? they are at a Japanese school down in Oregon and it would be a
pain in the butt for me to rename all the files.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
