My IIS 5.0 server keeps restarting for some reason. There are no clues in
the event logs or the IIS logs. I installed the latest Hot Fix rollup and
that didn't help. The restarts have been more frequent in the last 2 weeks.
Where should I look next? Server is W2K SP3.

The Event log shows:

The IIS Admin Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 3
time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 1 milliseconds:
Run the configured recovery program.

The World Wide Web Publishing Service service terminated unexpectedly. It
has done this 3 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 0
milliseconds: No action.

IIS stop command received from user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. The logged data is
the status code.

IIS start command received from user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. The logged data is
the status code.

This happens at random times. I thought maybe a particular Java Script
might be the problem but the URLs in the log prior to the restart are not
the same. This server hosts a Siebel 7.5.3.2 application.

Thanks in advance.

Mark

We need to identify which DLL is causing the failure.

Run IISState to get a log and you can post it here for analysis:

iisstate -p <Pid of inetinfo> -sc <enter>

Thanks. I'll run that and post the results. Hopefully the error will
happen again today.

Where do I get iisstate? I can't seem to find it on my server. Is it a
resource kit utility?
