Isn't Ireland part of the UK? I hear they do quite a bit of tipping
there in the pubs.

I hope you have good running shoes.
That's a bit like asking if Canada is part of USA
or if Kiwi is part of Oz.

Seriously, UK geography is not the most straight-forward, with Northern
Ireland being part of it.

Ireland (Eire) was in The Empire at some point though, which is probably
another thing that aids in the confusion.

In case there is any doubt, I realized it was constrictive feedback not an
attack. I always appreciate any and all information that will increase my

Their site says: "If you exceed your monthly allocated bandwidth, we will
bill you $5.00 for every additional 1GB of bandwidth used."
That's a HUGE price to pay for bandwidth overages. Be careful.

Appreciated that Edward, which is why I made it a side note:-) I just found
it interesting as a subject. I had a few issues when I first went overseas.
Couldnt understand why bell boys and waiters kept putting out their hand.
In typical Kiwi style, I of course shook their hand and said the usual
thank you. Got some wierd looks and even the occaisional, under the breath
muttering. I couldnt understand why I had to pay the waiter when I had
already paid for the meal
BTW - Nice guarantee, as a clarification I thought it worked pretty good -<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: reseller hosting wanted. |

I don't like others to think bad of me so I tend to tip generously. In
the situation you described, had I not known about tipping and later
found out, I would feel bad.
> I couldnt understand why I
> had to pay the waiter when I had already paid for the meal
I personally find it hard to know when it is expected to tip and when
not (waiters, chamber maids, taxi drivers, airport baggage handlers...
these I know about.... but I'm sure there are other professions that
expect a tip yet I have not realized it). It would be easier if
everything had a price and once you paid it everyone was happy. Forget
addon taxes, shipping charges, handling fees, etc.
> BTW - Nice guarantee, as a clarification I thought it worked pretty

Thanks... something to differentiate ourselves.

As HSBC realise, hence their adverts, it is very important to
understand local customs when dealing internationally, and let's face
it, the WWW is an International market.
Incidentally, for the benefit of the large US audience, here in the UK
when you go to a bar, you order your drink in person at the bar, you
don't wait for a waiter (more relevant to African countries perhaps)
and you pay for your drink when you order it. You don't settle up on
leaving and you don't tip the bar staff!

You can tip the bar staff, its at your discretion ...
I made a hell of a lot in tips working behind bars all across the UK ...

You must come to the UK sometime Tina!
Not so long ago £10 ($17) per extra GB.
These days a remarkably cheap £5 ($ !!!
(I think some are still charging £10)
