Post subject: Need a new registrar
Archived from groups: alt>www>webmaster (more info?)

I've been with GoDaddy for some time, with no problems, but now I'm
looking for someone new. I've had some sort of weird login problem for
months now, where my account seems to be almost always locked, and I
can't get anyone there to take a look at it! Just scripted "send this
number and we'll unlock it". I ask for the problem to be escalated, I
get the same scripted answer. I've sent 6 or more emails, and still
can't get more than "we'll unlock it for you". I want, "we'll unlock
it, then look into the problem for you".

So, I'm looking to move my domains elsewhere (there's just a couple).
My domains on Godaddy are all forwarded to my primary domain, which is
hosted elsewhere; but my host isn't really a registrar. I'd like a
registrar that has free domain forwarding. I also use email for these
domains, though not much, so I'd need some email as well.

Who do you have that you like, who should I avoid? Most of my domains
are paid up for at least three or more years.

Thanks for any advice

http://www.directnic.com/

I have used them since the beginning... well the beginning after Network
Solutions anyway... =)
It was great the day I transferred all my domains to directnic. =)

They also have a affiliate program but I won't spam my link here. =)
It is free to sign up for just an account to check it out.

Not the cheapest but I can say the service has been top notch. I am 200%
satisfied. =)

Good luck,
Heidi

I have philisophical differences with 1and1. They take up too much
bloody real estate in my favorite magazines, so I've learned to hate
them. Why do they need TEN PAGES OF AD SPACE??? AAAUGH!

But thanks though, I'll keep them in mind. I discovered that my
webhost, webmasters.com, actually *is* a registrar, so if I move from
Godaddy (more and more likely, since they have no intention of trying to
figure out what's going on with my account), I'll probably go there.

I was at Page-Zone for 5 years. 'Nuff said.

Are you seriously wanting to know? I have mentioned ServInt in enough
threads since moving there, I would think that anyone who cared to know
already knew.

My point, of course, is that a good relationship with a web host over
the last 5 years doesn't guarantee stable hosting in the future.

Ah well, nearly all businesses have a definite lifespan that ends with
them either being gobbled up by another company or they go out of
business. It's the circle of life in the jungle we call the business
world, Simba. And though someday you will be King, remember that all
good things must come to an end. Wink

No, I don't.

Well, now you know. When I left Page-Zone, I went to ServInt. PowerVPS
was another option I was looking at. I chose ServInt because they appear
to provide a higher level of management of the server that PowerVPS does.

My apologies if you found my earlier response insulting. That wasn't my
intention.

Yes. My question would've been a pretty unfunny joke.

I don't keep track of where everyone is.

Do you?

I know what your point was. That's why I didn't ask about *that*.
