Post subject: problem with Subdomains in IIS
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

I know this is supposed to be simple, but for the life of
me, I can't seem to get it to work. I have a simple
website for my firm, and want to add a subdomain for it on
our server. We only have one static public IP, and I am
routing through a firewall. Right now I have our current
website working just fine. How do I add another subdomain
on my IIS?

I have tried the host header thing, and the closest I have
come is it just going back to the default website.

Any help or points in the right direction would be greatly
appreciated. I am at a loss now.

Hello,

Have you tried this webpage:
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.imbored.biz/host-header" target="_blank">http://www.imbored.biz/host-header</a>

Is it possible that somewhere, the host header information is removed, and
therefore, all requests to your server are thru an IP, and therefore it
cannot distinguish between websites? This can for example happen if your
domain registrar is not really using DNS, but some kind of forwarding
service. Just a though about why it is not working.

1) You don't mention operating syste, if you're using XP you can't
add a second web site.

2) You mention subdomain, which makes me think FrontPage. You don't
use host headers for a FrontPage subdomain, it's all done through the
FrontPage Server Extensions manager.

3) Have you looked here?

Running mutiple web sites on a single IP address:
