Hey folks,

Is it possible to prevent directory browsing of a folder hosted on IIS6
except when accessed via a web folder through WebDAV? If so, how does one go
about implementing this?

Thanks,

Dave

That happens by default. (At least it does with IIS 5.0 and the WebDav that
comes with FrontPage extensions.)

Give it a try to see for yourself on your server.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Well, if you uncheck "directory browsing", then no, WebDAV browsing also
does not work. I just thought there might have been something I didn't know
about to prevent the former yet permit the latter. I want to permit file
transfer and when clients mistakenly open the folder as a directory listing
in IE, they have no idea what happened and can't figure out how to browse
the folders. I suppose then I could create a default web page and dump it in
that folder with a hyperlink to open as a web folder.
