Sorry about the last post didnt realize the rich text was on. I was
wondering how I can password protect some of the pages of my website. I use
TRIPOD SITE BUILDER which is free but, they let you use html. I would like
to be able to password protect pages that have file downloads or somehow be
able to have someone enter a password before downloading the file. Does
anyone know how I would go about doing this?
Thanks in advance.

How do I password-protect my pages?
Answer
To make a page private, start in the FileManager. If you haven't already
put this page into a directory, you'll need to do so. Only directories
can be made private, not individual pages. To put your page into a
directory, select the "New Directory" button. You'll be prompted to name
your new directory. Do so and click "Create." Select the file you want
to make private by checking the box to the left of the filename. Click
on the "Move" icon in the FileManager toolbar. Then select the directory
you just created, and click "Move." Once that's done, click the
Privatize tab. You'll see a listing of your directories there. Select
the directory (or directories) you want to privatize and click on the
"Make private" button in the toolbar.

Now that the directory is private, you need to create an access list of
people you want to be able to see it. Everyone on your access list must
be a Tripod member. You'll need their Tripod member name to put them on
your access list, and they'll need it to log into Tripod when they want
to visit your private pages.

After you create a private directory, you will be prompted to create an
access list, or assign one that you have already made. You can edit an
old list at this point, too.

What's the secret of posting long URLs like that without them word-wrapping
the clickable URL ?

Whenever I try it, the link doesn't work, as the second line just becomes
plain text, as it has in my reply.

Is it because you are *gifted* :~)<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Are there hosts that let you set this kind of thing up from one of their
control-panel things?
