I have asked this question and still have never received a true answer. I
also posted on the exchange side of this site, I apologize for the
duplication but it is important.
Exchange 2000 SP3 and Windows 2000 SP4 AD. OWA is required to reside on the
same IIS server as the exchange server. Every few weeks you can not access
OWA, it just stops working under IIS. All other web sites work under the
same IIS server (we set this up for testing purposes) so I know it is not the
IIS server. POP/SMTP work fine and all services are running properly. I was
told from other admins this is an issue when users do not properly log off
and it leaves resources open that IIS / OWA can not recover. I have been
using IIS recycle tool from MS an dit seems to help. Obviously if the IIS
recycle tool exists, this is a known issue, can we get a fix or at least an
explanation.

The IIS recycle tool exits to "get by" on problems such as yours.
Sometimes, it's just easier to recycle the service and fix the problem than
it is to investigate the issue deeper with our support.

But beyond that, you never really told us what the problem was. You just
said that OWA stops working. What's the error message you get?

Also, you were right to go to exchange with this since they own OWA but
we'll see what we can do for you here.

Thank you,
