Post subject: Looking for newbie recommendation on how to set up a shopping cart/online orderi
Archived from groups: alt>ecommerce (more info?)

Hey all,

Newbie here looking to implement 1st shopping cart. Have access to
Agora & osCommerce already.

Looking to basically put one product up for sale on our website. Not
needing huge catalog functionality. Want the ability to have someone
purchase via credit cart, have that get approved, e-mail them a
license key that they can use to enable their download.

Not sure what I need. I'm guessing a shopping cart program that could
do auto-responding via e-mail with a license code, an integration or
connector to our credit card processing or a replacement service
(Paypal maybe?), and really not sure what else.

In fact, I may have this completely wrong.

If anybody could give me some direction or recommendations, I would be
super grateful.

Thanks much!

Chris

The EASIEST way is to set up an paypal shopping cart! Accept credit
cards, no merchant account needed. It works great. Go to paypal and look
under 'merchant tools'. It's easy to set up. Get a paypal 'business'
account (it's free) and just plug in the requirements for the item(s) to
sell on your site (name, price, tax, shipping) and then it gives you the
html code to insert into your website to create a shopping cart/purchase
button. You don't even need a secure website! Paypal does it all! It's
really kewl. HTH

answer is in Agora and osCommerce itself.
Check out demo shops and read this for the beginnig
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://the-web-site-designer.co.uk/on-line_shops.htm" target="_blank">http://the-web-site-designer.co.uk/on-line_shops.htm</a>
but imho for you in case of ONE or few products - better way would be to
use only secured payment system (even without it on site -you can get
same results if you only have an acount in bank with internet
connection) and a simple script for a shop on your website -because
those systems are for much bigger needs then yours.
