Hi guys,

Working on a project were it seems we'll have the option to either use
miva or oscommerce for the shop.

I've already setup an oscommerce demo and must say I rather like most
of it. Only thing I find a bit disappointing is how it handles orders.
A very simple webpage. Doesn't seem very effective if you have 10-20
people in a wharehouse processing several hunderd if not thousand
orders a day.

So, what I ment to ask, how do miva and oscommerce compare? especially
in the order processing section?

thanks!

If you have that many orders and processors - I do not think Miva or
osCommerce are your best bet.

What are the current order processing business rules and technology?

Can I ask you why you believe these packages are your best options?

I would have to agree that OSCommerce's back-end tools leave a bit to be
desired.

That said, the real beauty of OSCommerce is that "OS" bit; it is open
source, so you can do whatever you need to with it.

I'll repeat another poster's request for details about your current
business rules and process's.

My hunch is that you're going to want something a little more robust
than a web interface for that many orders

As for Miva, after hearing about their recent "sneak-wrap" release with
a hidden "phone home" license verification scheme, complete with several
"features" that could easily cripple a fully compliant and licensed
site..., I believe I'll pass on that one.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

You may wish to take a look at <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.cybergrafx.co.uk/cyberstore" target="_blank">http://www.cybergrafx.co.uk/cyberstore</a>

Assuming your clients have their own in-house server you get the ability to
integrate it with their existing systems - and it's very easy to customize
if you know Perl.

It is also EU friendly - which I suspect is what your client wants...

Best wishes,

Hi,
I use MIVA Merchant for several of my clients, I find it easy to use, easy
to set up, easy to customize (with the purchase of a few $25-$50 modules).
Miva Merchant uses batches to process orders so that might provide a better
back end for you. Be sure to sign up for their user group, you get real
solutions to your posted problems. <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.miva.com/support/usr_grps/" target="_blank">http://www.miva.com/support/usr_grps/</a>

I looked over and played with oscommerce, but decided to concentrate my
efforts on MIVA.

Let me know if you have any questions,
Dave
