I can't install IIS on my Windows XP SP2 because the setup asks for some
files, which are not part of the SP2 and also not part of the original XP
installation CD. Where can I find this files? You can test it yourself by
unsinstalling IIS and reinstall IIS.

I can't test myself because I don't have an SP2 system with IIS,
sorry. And since I can't perform a test, and would be unwilling to
use my time and resources to test a setup unique to you to solve a
problem for you with no compensation, I can't see what the error would
be.
On the other hand, you happen to have the exact setup you are having
trouble with, and have experienced the exact errors you need solutions
to. Was it really too much trouble to post the errors you received,
or provide any more hints to your problems, that you expected it to be
easier for someone else to try to duplicate the problem just so your
system can work?

I can't uninstall SP2 as I have done to much since I have installed it. It
looks to me as MS has never tested this SP2 situation at all. I can
reproduce this on any system I have tried. MS has simply forgotten to
include this files into SP2 and I hope we will see soon a SP2a whcih fixes
this problems.

If you installed the administration scripts and SMTP, these are part
of the original install. You should even find them on your system and
be able to simply point the installer back at them. Note that you may
need the SP1 CD if you installed that as well.

I am experiencing the same problems with IIS 5 too.
I have only had the problems since installing SP2 on XP
Pro last week.
I've looked at the event manager (because my laptop now
takes 10mins to boot (50% of the time) and FTP publishing
and WWW Publishing are both hanging on start up. Canging
to Manual start-up still makes the machine hang.
I now do not have localhost for development testing on my
laptop which I personally bought for development testing!
Microsoft - this aint good. >> Stay informed about: How to install IIS on WinXP SP2? |

You are wrong. Believe me. This files can't be found on the original =
WinXP CD and it can't be found in the SP2 network install. Pointing the =
installer to the I386 directory of both sources can't find this files.

Did you search on your system? Not on the CD, your hard drive. And
is this a first time install or did you have IIS installed before?
