Is it possible to do something similar to this ...

redirect http://www.widget.com/index.html
http://www.newwidget.com/index.html

If not, an alternative idea?

Thanks

I guess that you own widget.com and newwidget.com. Just use an
index.html like

<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;http://www.newwidget.com">
</head>
</html>

And put it in widget.com

Redirect <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.widget.com/" target="_blank">http://www.widget.com/</a> <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.newwidget.com/" target="_blank">http://www.newwidget.com/</a>

Unless you only want to redirect index page...<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
