Howdy,
I assume you have a well configured firewall already installed. You'll need
to open a bunch of holes in your current configuration to allow a web site
to operate. Open the wrong protocols and you can be in big trouble.
I strongly recommend you do not attempt to host a web site on your own
servers unless you can afford to add $60,000 a year to your payroll or have
your whole system hacked and invaded now and then. Carefully find the
expert you need now, or pay extra to salvage your system later.
If you've gone ahead already and didn't have to make any changes to your
firewall, you may already be some hacker's robot. Most people don't
understand that a good System Admin or Webmaster needs to pack more into
their heads that an attorney.
It's not worth the battle or expense to run your own web server when $25.00
a month can provide everything you need and it's their worry if something
goes wrong.
