I've developed software for creating, running and publishing
screensavers - sort of like having a website, except it
pops up as a screensaver.

My question is, do free web hosting companies usually offer FTP ?
I've only ever dealt with the pay kind before.

My program uses FTP to get the text, picture and audio
files from the screensaver author's PC to their web host.
On the viewer's end, the program just uses HTTP to
retrieve the files -- so that's no problem.

Thanks for your help.

Hello Dan,

there are many free hosts that are offering <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://FTP." target="_blank">FTP.</a>

I personally used <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.fateback.com" target="_blank">www.fateback.com</a> as my free web hosting service, but
I moved from there, because my income have increased significantly
during the last 6 months and now I can afford to pay for professional
web hosting sevice. I was very happy with fateback.com, because their
support is just great for the free service they offer.
I couldn`t understand very well how your program will use the FTP
(exactly), but as far as I know they have some FTP protection system.
Do not know whether your program will not going to be against their
rules. You can just ask them.

Regards,

Nick Blaskov

I wouldnt have thought that any free hosts use <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://ftp." target="_blank">ftp.</a> As I am sure you
know they use html file manager type web apps. But hey you might get lucky !

Cheers

Thanks everyone for the info!
This is good news because it seems people who have my software
will be able to use free web hosts if they want.

Sorry if my original post was confusing. I'm not planning
on switching.

Thanks again.
