Hosting for a buck doesn't do that. They sell domains too, yes, but
it's entirely separate. I've got domains with them that I host
elsewhere, and some that I host with them. They also give you access
to the 'secret number' you need to transfer your domain to another
registrar, no problem.

Yup, agreed.

It does (the 20 USD/year per site), because they are kind enough to
transfer the money to godaddy for me without asking additional money. But
I doubt it's any problem to host with them and arranging the domain name
yourself.

Yes

A customer of mine has a VPS with them, so I can only say how their VPS
is, and it's second hand info.

Homework? nah 50 to 60 hours a week at work takes much of my time.
See I make my money from host work not like you and the damn spam you spew
over the net.

AFAIK, GoDaddy is the only host that has partnered with Google
Webmaster Tools, which was added recently as part of GoDaddy's
standard control panel. They automatically FTP each authentication
file for you (and you how many threads we see about "I can't verify my
site").

I had 1000+ hits from Googlebot one day on a week-old site hosted by
GoDaddy; that was three years ago - so I highly doubt the accuracy of
viper's source.

I don't sell products or services here.

What would I be spamming? free advice?

GoDaddy has my loyalty because of their business ethics, not because I
get paid to. When GoDaddy catches wind of unethical practices, they
fight it rather than participating in the scams for financial reasons.

I use GoDaddy for ALL of my sites. ALL of my clients use GoDaddy. Only
one of my new clients actually had to SWITCH to GoDaddy (and it was
easy); the rest already had domains with GoDaddy.

See previous post, too.

1. Not a publicly traded stock. No shareholders with greedy
intentions.

2. The CEO supports small business in many ways.

3. They fight on capitol hill for what is right - at their own
expense.

4. 24/7 courteous support staff that speaks ENGLISH

5. It works and it's improving.

6. They have an Indy car AND a NASCAR now (+ some fast bikes).

I only spend a few minutes in my client's GoDaddy accounts and then
it's all smooth sailing.

I wrote a page on my site about hosting and domains for my new
clients. Until recently, it was a client-only page that was not
publicly accessible.

I've had great experience with Go Daddy as a registrar but
I've heard some rather negative reports about their hosting service.
Of course, I've never used it so I can't be sure.

Are you actually using their Web hosting service? And for how
long? I see you gave them a good report. Can you elaborate on why
you believe they are this good?

Regards,

Fred

I wouldn't be surprised is you type <company> sucks in Google you get
results:

http://www.google.com/search?q=dell%20sucks (ihatedell)
http://www.google.com/search?q=acer%20sucks (too even)
http://www.google.com/search?q=google%20sucks
http://www.google.com/search?q=microsoft%20sucks (no surprise there)
http://www.google.com/search?q=apple%20sucks
http://www.google.com/search?q=linux%20sucks

in short, there is a lot of sucking going on.
