Post subject: no frontpage extensions in WinXP pro IIS 5.1 ???
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Hello,

I have had a very simple website for about 18 months on my computer under
winxp pro, running IIS with all default settings.

I now installed Frontpage 2003 and made another simple website using a
FP2003 template, and replaced the wwwroot folder contents. I can access my
new website correctly locally and from other machines on my home network and
also from work, but when I want to start a "search", I get an answer telling
me that my server doesn't have frontpage server extensions installed.

I uploaded my whole site to my ISP who doesn't support FP server extensions
and I get the same message, so I know the extensions are not installed on my
computer either. Since my website should only be available in the end on my
home local network, how do I install those extensions on my home computer
???

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling IIS with all options, without success.

Here is the link to the site I created from the template, so you know what I
mean. Try the page "Recherche".

Thank you

Lorenzo

Have you installed the FP2002 extensions?
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnservext/html/fpse02win.asp" target="_blank">http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnser...t/html/</a>

If you have installed them, have you configured them....

Control Panel, Admin Tools, Internet Information Services... doubleclick on
the local computer... select Websites.... Right click on the Default
Website..... scroll down to All Tasks.

Hi,

Try manually installing them:
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnservext/html/fpse02win.asp" target="_blank">http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnser...t/html/</a>

Thank you for your quick answer. Yes I installed the fp2002 server
extensions, and they appear to be installed correctly.

 > Control Panel, Admin Tools, Internet Information Services...
 > doubleclick on the local computer... select Websites.... Right click
 > on the Default Website..... scroll down to All Tasks.

That gives me the option to check the SE, and the window say "checking web
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://" target="_blank">http://</a> "... and then "no problems found", with time and date.
Should it say what <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://" target="_blank">http://</a> website it is checking ???

The other options do nothing for me. "Recalculate web" and "Remove
extensions" have nothing to do with my problem, and the Permission Wizard
gives web access to all.

Is there any other option that I should have ? Am I missing something ?

Sorry, haven't had to worry about Server extensions up to now, and I am
really lost.

Lorenzo
