Hello,

Anyone knows about a site with a free ping control service with e-mail
notification?

I want to control if the home page is up. Not the dns in the IP or the
http service Wink

TK in advance.

isn't this something you can run from your own workstation?

If you want to check that your home page is up then www.siteuptime.com
provide a good free service, they send out an email notification when the
site goes down and when it becomes available again. I use them and find they
are excellent.

Not sure what you mean about "Not the dns in the IP or the http service" -
for your home page to be up dns must be working to direct people to the
right ip and the http service must be running in order for people to view
it.

I think he is refering to the fact that even though dns and http are all
functioning and an IP will give a ping - none of that confirms a particular
page is 'up' - only that the site is reachable.

Thanks Bill, that makes sense. In which case siteuptime is definitely what
he is after.
