I will second this... most domain control panels have a place to
generate and/or send you the code. Often however, it is on some
obscure page or you have to get there through a series of bizarre
steps, SRS was great at this one.
I own a few domains and have lost a couple in the distant past to those
robbing bastards who in the fine print charge money to transfer domains
out, I have also lost some when trying to transfer out in the last 2
weeks, only to find it failed, went south and the registrars wanted big
bucks to bring them back. In many cases it is illegal, and in more
cases it is imoral.
When you transfer a domain, you pay the new registrar the next years
fees and cannot transfer a domain within 60 days of purchase or
transfer in most cases.
You also sound a little new, if you are having a hard time, you might
ask someone that does this stuff more often - someone you trust.
