Post subject: how do you display an aspx file using iis 6.0
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Good afternoon,

I've just installed Win Server 2003 with IIS 6.0. I put my
helloworld.aspx and helloworld vb files in the
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot folder.

When I open the file with my browser IE 6.0, rather than
displaying my aspx on the browser, a blank screen is
displayed...

This works when I use my laptop.

I'd appreciate any help.

Thank you,
Pat

You need to compile your project on the server, or copy you \bin files over
to the server.

Good morning Tom,
Thanks for replying so promptly.

I'm trying to create a web application and since I'm doing this pro bono
for a religious organization, I can't justify purchasing Visual Studio.
So, I'm doing everything by hand.

I'm using the O'Reilly book "Programming ASP.NET" as a reference...

Consequently, I am not compiling the VB but simply am invoking IIS and
pointing it to my aspx file and ASP should actually compile the program.

Rather than doing this, the file is opened in NotePad.

Therefore, I don't think it is necessary to compile my project...

Thanks,
Pat

OK, good luck. If you don't copy the contents of the bin folder, it won't
work.
