Post subject: difference between apache Redirect vs. Rewrite on SEO
Archived from groups: alt>apache>configuration (more info?)

I have several pages that are ranked well and I am consolidating them into
one page, please don't ask why. I moved to wordpress software.

For example:
site.com/dir/page1.htm
site.com/dir/page2.htm

I want both of the pages to be redirected or rewritten to:
site.com/dir/

It appears as if they might differ in their approach as to permanence and
SEO.

What effect would going with rewrite versus redirect have on SEO?
