I am using IIS5.1 on WinXP.
How come the IIS does not see the default web that's located at
inetpub/wwwroot?
How can I add another web site located on the different directory of the
same machine?
Thanx

Can't tell, you give no information. In fact, you don't even prove it
can't.

IIS 5.1 on XP Pro gets a single site only. User a server OS if you
need more than one site.

By default, the C:/inetpub/wwwroot/ should be the default web location.
But my IIS doesnt, and I cannot find a GUI command to add this directory as
the web location.
I have tried restart the web server, but there is any difference.
Thanx

Where does IIS think your home directory is?

If you go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools ->
Internet Information Services you can manage IIS that way.

I dont know where the IIS think the home directory is.
I start the IIS the way you shown and it only shows a IIS icon followed by a
local computer icon.
It doesnt show anything about the default web site.
I have tried restart the IIS service and no difference.
I dont see any icon to add or specify the home directory. Is it normal?
Thanx for your reply.

Hi,

a) If you click on the computer icon, do you see some icons underneath that?

b) Do you have any of the other services installed? To check, in the
Administrative Tools folder (same place that Internet Information Services
tool is located), locate the Services Administration tool. Scroll down the
list of services. Do you see "IIS Admin Service" listed? Is it started? Do
you see "World Wide Web Publishing Service" listed? Is it started?

Thanks

Cheers
Ken
