Post subject: IIS 6.0 does not answer to request for htx and, idq files
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)
I received 404 error in the IE browser from IIS 6.0,when
there is a request for idq and htx files, perhaps because
htx and idq not are mappings with any isapi or cgi.
Which Isapi or Cgi (name and path) use IIS 6.0 for htx and
idq files (samples for query Microsoft Index Server)?

Help me!

IIS 6.0 by default does not allow these files..

go into inetmgr and Web Service Extensions, and allow the appropriate
extensions

I heard that IIS 6 no longer supports htx and idq files because they want everyone to use .asp searching.

I'm pretty sure it still supports it....besides...why would they want
everyone using asp...they'd be wanting them to use ASP.Net

Hello,
You should be able to Allow All Unknown ISAPI extensions and get these
pages to be served up too. Its recommended however that you enable only
these extensions instead of allowing all unknown isapi. So for example, for
idq, you'd create a new Web service extension, map it to idq.dll and allow
it.
