My OS is XP Pro with SP2 and IIS is 5.1.
I have no error in viewing HTML web page.
I put an ASP web page into my wwwroot, but i can't view it using my IE. In
my IE, it shows "HTTP 500 - Internal server error ". What does it mean? and
how to solve it?
Advises needed. Thanks in advance. Smile

Hi

I'm not sure, but after installing Win XP SP2 on my development PC ASP.NET
was not enabled in my IIS anymore.

So I had to "reenable" it againg with "asp_regiis -i".

Hi Kenny,

The error message you see is a general error message. Please disable "Show
Friendly HTTP Error Messages" in your browser, so we can get a more
detailed error message.

If the error message refers you to the event log, please also copy the
event entry.

Start here:

Why do I get a 500 Internal Server error for all ASP errors?

Thanks for replying.
I've followed the step that you told and I get following error:

"Server Application Error
The server has encountered an error while loading an application during the
processing of your request. Please refer to the event log for more detail
information. Please contact the server administrator for assistance."

Would it be caused by SP2? It's pretty strange because the same asp file is
workable in other machine which is not updated to SP2.

Again, helps and advises are needed. Thanks in advance. =)

Hi,

The event log can be found here:

Click Start, Run and type eventvwr.msc and press ENTER. Now you will see
the event log, and that is where you have more information.

The log files you posted show the 500 error on the post.asp file. You
need to check the Event Log for errors, and also the code in the
post.asp file.
