Hi,
There is something annoying on my Windows 2000 server.
Users downloading files from it via either http (IIS 5.0 running) are
limited to around 30Kb/s.
I guess there must be a system wide setting to tweak Microsoft IIS, since if
i download a file from the ftp server (same machine, bulletproof ftp server)
the speed is normal.
Any ideas ?

Did you enable bandwidth throttling? If so, turn it off.
Also, does the same thing happen from the server locally? From another
client on the same network?

bandwidth throttling option is disabled for all websites, if i download a
file in the same machine the speed is normal, but if another server, in the
same network, same datacenter download a file, it downloads at 30 kb/s.
i´m sure it´s an iis bug or something, due that if i download a file via the
ftp server on the same server, the download speed is normal.

i´ve tested with several connection and if i download from a 256 kbps adsl
i´ll download at 15 kb/s, it looks that this IIS allows only to use half
client´s total bandwith
on the other side, i run worldclient (mdaemon webmail) under iis, and if i
make a download from worldclient, transfer rate is normal.
i don´t know what else to think or do.
any ideas?

Nicolas,
I am pretty sure that if you had IIS configured to limit bandwidth, you'd
see it no matter if you ran it from the server, or a remote client. In your
case, from the server there's no problem. So I'd start looking at what's
between the servers. What type of switch are you using? Can you use a
crossover cable and plug directly to the machine, or just use a hub and
test again?
Thank you,

I just installed apache web server on another port and transfer speed is
normal, as the ftp server and mail server.
so it´s a an IIS bug, or something.
Bandwidth´s limit is unchecked for all websites in IIS.
thanks,
Nicolas

Does it happen for each web site or just one web site? What if you change
ports?
