Archived from groups: biz>ecommerce (more info?)

I have been the webmaster for Axis Chiropractic Clinic
www.axischiropractic.org for several years. Last year my client let
his doman expire (it was .net at the time). In a matter of days,
squatters purchased the doman and put a porn splash page up in place.
Now I can't get him back on Google or any prominate search listings,
because of the porn implication. Any ideas or suggestions as to how
to get the website back on the google, yahoo and the other search
pages? The 'squatters' did offer to sell us the .net domain back for
$300, but my client refuses to do so on principal.

Howdy David,

This is a rather complex issue and it boils down to how much effort a site
owner wishes to put forth to protect themselves. Principles are nice only
if you have the muscle to defend them.

If "Axis Chiropractic" has been through the process of registering as a
Trademark with the goverment, it makes a few things easier. Then you have a
chance to utilize domain dispute resolution via <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.icann.org." target="_blank">www.icann.org.</a>

If it's just another business name, there isn't anything that can be done
and paying the $300 was by far the best solution. That might have been
talked down a bit but I'm sure the price is higher now.

Thanks, Chris <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.bizynet.com" target="_blank">www.bizynet.com</a> and <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.bizycart.com" target="_blank">www.bizycart.com</a>
