I've created an ecommerce site which is not generating many sales.
Any feedback on my site would be gladly appreciated...
site address: www.decorcollectibles.com

Howdy,

It's a nice looking site. However:

How many thousands of other web sites are trying to sell items from the same
drop ship catalog?

How many of these items are available at Wal-Mart for less?

Where are the short descriptions that tell people how exciting and important
each of your items are? The descriptions on the closeup pages should be
longer and more detailed.

How many people will trust you since you don't qualify for your own Merchant
Card Account?

If you are getting some sales, keep improving what generated them. Don't
lose track of those people and find out what they are looking for. Like all
of the other sites like this, you can expect to spend two or three years
building up your repeat customers. What you have now is only a base line
that will need expanding so eventually you have your own unique products
that you import and maintain in stock.

I agree with the comments below about the uniqueness of your inventory.
However, I like your graphics and layout.

Question. I am interested in starting an online catalog site, what
Merchant Service did you go with? Were you happy with them?
Thanks,

LR

He used a yahoo store to handle the merchant service.

I like paypal myself.

Now he can put any products he wants. If you have a website you can
deliver products. Just do it! That's the ticket. Then discover what
sells. A good place to find out what sells if EBAY. In fact, you
should sell there first. then make a store online.

Good luck!

My question would be, what are you doing to publicize your site? I
somewhat agree that products that aren't unique may not sell well - but
people are also able to sell more items, some of them incredibly
generic, just by marketing differently. I'd say, go over to
sitepronews.com if you're a beginner, and IMforNewbies.com if you're
somewhat seasoned, and read some of the articles at those sites about
how to get more visitors.

There are all kinds of things you could do - articles, ezines (your own
or placing cheap ezine ads), basic search engine optimization for less
popular terms, blogging, RSS product feeds and promotion, search engine
advertising (sometimes in Google Adwords, you can get interested
prospects for five cents a click), giveaways, participation in forums
where you leave your link as your signature, email link signatures,
getting links back to your site, giving away free ebooks about your
topic matter.... I could go on forever.

How many people are coming to your site, and of those, how many sales
are you making - in other words, what is your conversion rate? If it
has remained at 1%, for exxample, and you increase your traffic, your
sales will go up - you may just need a way to keep your prospects
coming back, like a newsletter or a blog.
Hope this helps!

Thanks,

Tinu
