Post subject: Web Service Extensions in IIS 6.0 - ASP.NET v 2.0/IIS 6.0 Reskit to support Exch
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Hi,

I am posting this in the hope that someone will be able to assist me
regarding a couple of little questions regarding IIS 6.0 in a Windows Server
2003 SP1/Exchange Server 2003 SP2 environment.

I am building an Exchange Front-End/Back-End configuration using two servers
running Windows Server 2003 SP1 as the OS with IIS 6.0 prepared for an
installation of Exchange Server 2003 SP2. At the moment, I have prepared
two Windows servers with IIS 6.0 and the required components as well as
installing the .NET Framework v 2, so both servers have 'ASP.NET
v2.0.507272' listed within the 'Web Service Extensions' folder inside ISM.
Now both servers have the 'ASP.NET v1.1.....' extensions enabled as per the
installation of the 'ASP.NET' component of the OS. The Fronf-End server is
going to be configured as a Front-End server for both OWA and RPC over
HTTPS. My first question is:

Should I allow the new 'ASP.NET v2.0.50727' service extension and disable
the 'ASP.NET v1.1...' service extension or allow both to run on the server?

My second question is regarding the IIS 6.0 Resource Kit Tools:

Is it recommended to install the Resource Kit on both Exchange/IIS servers
or just one? If just one, which is the recommended one?

Many thanks in advance...
