What do you recommend for a production web server and why. (Quad Xeon & 4 GB
ram)?

With the lack of support for more then 2GB ram I don't see any compelling
reason to run Web Edition. Moreover, it does not appear to take advantage of
the 64bit pipes...

Hi,

Windows Server 2003 Web Edition is only available in 32bit, and has that
arbitrary memory limit (and also limits the number of physical CPUs
supported). I'm not sure what you mean by "does not take advantage of 64bit
pipes"

When you say "Quad Xeon" - do you mean a Quad Core Xeon CPU? or 4 Xeon CPUs?
If the latter, you'd need to look at Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition as
a minimum

Alternatively, you can wait a few months for Windows Server 2008 Web
Edition, which supports 4Gb of RAM and 4 physical CPUs in the 32bit edition,
and 16Gb of RAM and 4 physical CPUs in the 64bit edition...

Cheers
Ken
