Forgive me if this has been answered; I can't seem to find a solution
anywhere in my searches.
We have W2K Advanced Server. The W3SVC WWW service (& the SMTP
service) is coming up as hung on starting in the event log, and all
services dependent on that service fail, naturally. However, given 4
more minutes wait time, W3SVC (& SMTP) comes up as "Started". The
dependent services never recover, however, even when set to do so.
I'm told the services used to work perfectly, and now they don't.
Now, this ONLY happens on booting; manual stops & starts work
perfectly. If I boot with W3SVC set to manual (& all services that
call it set to manual), reboot, then manually start the service, the
W3SVC service & all others start just fine, with no event log errors,
no delays.
I've tried debugging programs, but haven't found anything yet. Is a
reinstall of IIS warranted, or is there another solution?
