Post subject: Unknown Web Application....?
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Hi All,

In my defaultapppool, there are three applications listed. Two of them
I can identify:

Default application for our corporate website
_vti_bin for my default website

There is a third called "Web" and it is listed as being a second
virtual directory to the corporate website.

However - that website has *no* virtual directories. Everything runs
under the default application.

Can anyone help me figure this out?

Many thanks in advance,

Richard

Thanks Ken.

IIS Metabase explorer shows the virtual directory, but doesn't give
anything further.

Any idea on how I can remove this?

Many thanks,

Richard

Check in the IIS metabase.

It is possible that someone created a virtual directory, but then deleted
the underlying physical folder. In that case, the virtual directory metabase
node still exists, but nothing gets displayed in the IIS Manager GUI because
there is no physical folder anymore...

Cheers
Ken

Just delete the node in Metabase Explorer.

Cheers
