Hi,

When I try to uninstall IIS on my XP Professional system, I get the message:

"File copy operations were canceled. Setup cannot continue."

How can I uninstall IIS? I really want to have it installed, but it
obviously is not installed correctly, as there is no entry in the
Administrative Tools within Control Panel. I thought that if I could
uninstall it then I may be able to reinstall it properly.

I need to get IIS working so that I can get Visual Studio .Net to work.

Any help much appreciated,

Pete

Are you loged in as a local administrator? If so, give fulll control to
the admin and local system accounts all the way down the hard drive. Then
try again. Let us know if that works.

Hi,

I can't seem to set permissions on any folders. When I right-click a
folder and select properties, I do not get a Security tab. I have
followed the help and selected Folder Options in control panel and
selected the checkbox that it said to select in the Advanced section,
but I still do not get a Security tab.

Open an Explorer window.
Go to tools, Folder Options
Click on View, unselect the "use simple file sharing"
now you'll have the option to set permissions...

I think the problem you are seeing is due to a permission problem where the
system doesn't have access to a file it's trying to remove... so we need to
make sure system and admin's have fc all the way down the drive...

good luck!!!

Hi,

I have set the permissions to full control, but still get the same error
message.

Check the IIS5.log file in the c:\windows or c:\winnt directory...
Open that file, and search on Fail...

Or just post the file and we can all look at it.
