How to have the URL default to the FQDN

I have a Sharepoint Intranet site and I would like the URL to alwayes default
to the FQDN. How can I make this happen?

Not an IIS-related question. You want to ask a Sharepoint specific
newsgroup since this would be functionality unique to that
application.
