Three days of designing, and stressing over bugs that
don't exist, and I've (I think) finished my template.

The next logical step is to submit it here before you all for
you to rip it to shreds and get rid of any confidence in
web-design I have.

So here it is: http://www.polyfunc.dylanparry.com/template.php

Hey I really like the look of you template. Great colours.

Not sure why you have images for the heading of the "News" and "Navigation".
Alos, the hover images in the menau at the top would be quite possible to do
using css instead of rollover images.

It looks (to me) like it would not be too hard to get it going using XHTML.

all-in-all I really like your site.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

You know <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://polyfunc.dylanparry.com/template.php" target="_blank">http://polyfunc.dylanparry.com/template.php</a> works just as well.

It sure is... blue. Reminds me a lot of another site I've recently been
to. So help me, I just can't put my finger on it. Looks sharp though. Wink

Not going to rip it shreds, but I will point out some stuff...

First, you can save some programming space by making the navigational aid at
the left a list. This would save you from announcing the img for each
bulleted item. You could add the border to each list item as well. All
this done through CSS would amount to saved code time and lines of coding.

Next, the actual look of the site. It is clean, nicely laid out, but very
general. I would add in some more imagery, even with a general template, to
give it more flavor and feel for what might come(I see ya noted this as
well:) ).

If you want to cut down on even more coding(almost eliminating the need for
javascript), you could use a CSS rollover for your upper nav buttons.

But, it is very clean.

Later!

Looks fab!

Your navigation buttons disappear when the window is resized smaller, thus:

I haven't been able to get Gaz's page to load but I've been having
trouble losing sync with comcast's servers and, if a page loads at all,
it's buggeral slow. I don't know if it's just a UK thing but Google
loads normally. UGG.

No one came out and said so but ... is Dylan your brother, Gaz?

Thanks for pointing that out! I've fixed that now. It looks horrible when
it happens, but I'm not sure how to help that issue. I've just settled
with making a whole new line of 'pipe' for the buttons (that used to
disappear) when the window is re-sized. Smile

The 'news' and 'navigation' titles are there because the places looked too
bare without them Smile

I'll convert it to XHTML when I'm not as tired as I am now.

Not sure how to do the rollover-style images with CSS, but I'll look into
it.

Thanks Smile

Still disappearing on my IE6, perhaps I am getting a cached version.

Your solution doesn't work here, Gaz. I just get a white space appear
underneath the original pipe when I make the window small enough. You know
the browser, Opera 7.11 Linux.

I think that if you supply a text alternative for the buttons at the top,
ie. "Home | About | Contact | FAQ" at the bottom of the page, and keep the
code as it was before, then it should be fine.

Took me a few minutes to realize I hadn't uploaded the file Smile
