The memory usage is high although there is plenty of RAM and we experience
unstable behavior on the server and the web apps become slow. However every
the problem occurs we notice the following on the IIS Server (Its a win2k
server with Sp4) runnning 5.0
1). Control panel gets locked up. No icons come up.
2). Windows file search gets locked up.
3). We cannot browse to c:\winnt\system32 through windows explorer.
4). We try to browse to the windows update web site through IE and that gets
locked up as well.
Killing the aspnet_wp.exe process in the task manager resets everything back
to normal. Also doing IIS restart resets everything to normal. I cannot
comprehend why control panel comes back to normal after restarting IIS. when
the control panel got locked this morning I ran the IISState on the PID
aspnet_wp.exe to see if it has written anything to the log. Also I ran the
IISState on that PID of the DLLhost.exe which was taking lots of memory on
the server in the task manager.
Please guide us on how to resolve this issue.
