In terms of size, not at all - the limit is set pretty much by the
available space on your hardware. If any individual tables have large
numbers of records then you'll need to do a lot of optimisation in
order to get decent performance, but 50,000 pages isn't likely to be a
problem in that respect if the database is well-organised (and I'd
expect that the default setup for a popular CMS would be OK in that
respect).
A full mirror of Wikipedia is just over 8Gb if stored in MySQL, and
I've had that running OK on my server - the bottleneck there is the
complexity of the parser which puts a lot of load on the system.
