Didn't mean to sound like a hardass
It's just that I write from that particular body part, mostly in speed
fashion.

Our stats show 8 x 6 visitors as well.
We also get ppl stopping by with Konq, iPods and, of all things, even WebTV.
I just checked it out with my Cellphone too. Jeez, I wish I hadn't done that


Jeri had a week to overhaul it.
She designed it for the top percentages, target mkt and top 3 browsers.
Works. Still looks like sheet. but it works

Design for screen not paper.

Use the flexibility of HTML to allow a site to fit the available space.
Use float and relative units for margins to set up a design will easily
"fold" appropriately to give a narrow design for mobile phones and a wider
layout for large desktops. Use the fact that most people will increase the
default font size when using a higher resolution to make margins and
borders increase proportionally.

Start the entire design process from the assumption that the page will be
viewed in a wide range of situations, and not by making something that
works well at your default settings and then attempting to make it
flexible.

I research the stats regularly, and the last I checked 800x600 makes up
about 40%, 1024x786 makes up about 45%. May I ask where you are getting
your stats from?

No, I don't think he did... I think he meant the IE Favorites sidebar.

Rather, than a petty spat about whether to use IE's terminology or Moz
terminology, either the OP could keep his terms generic, or perhaps we could
