Hello
I am considering using Quark for web design, because the person who would be
responsible for it, already has some Quark magazine publishing experience.
My feelings are that it would be helpful to learn how to use one product and
I've noticed that Quark has the capability to create Web documents.
Is it practical or a good idea?
Thanks in advance

Never use a graphics program to create HTML.
I've not seen one that does this well.

why not? [1] I have several clients that make their sites this way.
> I've not seen one that does this well.
I have [2]. It goes like this: they use their favourite graphics program
to create whatever they want. Then they create a universal transportable
(paper) copy and give it to me to turn into a web page/site ;o)
[1] you didn't think I meant it did you.
[2] even if I say so myself.

I have to agree with this. Don't use Quark to create the HTML -
although, the result does seem better than certain MS products.
That said, the designer that I work with uses Quark to do all of his web
design layouts. When the client approves of the design, he will then
convert it into a layered Photoshop file (he only has Quark 4, so he
can't do layers there).
The design is then handed off to be with color printouts, PDF, PSD and
Quark files which I use to generate the code.

I use Adobe ImageReady to generate HTML imagemaps all the time. Of course
I fix up the code a little before I use it, nevertheless I'm still using a
graphics program to write HTML.
Getting a graphics program to write *entire pages* now there's the thing.
Any such generation is probably worse than FP and DW both.

Meantime I am reduced to using the laptop - slow as - and as it happens set
up for when I used the ISP showing in the reply to. In fact that is a dummy
as I am no longer using that ISP but just too lazy to change the entry.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Using Quark Xpress for web design |
