Please help me- I'm running win 2k3 enterprise as a stand alone ftp, mail, web
server from home. I got no-ip.com dns to work around isp (Verizon). I've
installed SMTP&POP3 on local machine. No-ip had me set ip addr (192.168.x.x)
as both incoming & outgoing server addresses on Outlook exp. My problem is
when Outlook opens I get the following message:
There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was
rejected. Account: 'xxx', Server: '192.168.x.x', Protocol: POP3, Server
Response: '-ERR Logon Failure', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error:
0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92. I set password when creating mailbox.
I also get password rejected error using Outlook client on non networked
machine. I can send mail from local host but not receive.
What am I doing wrong?

Thanx,

Your username or password is entered incorrect in your email client.
What type of authentication system did you select when setting up the POP3
server?
Cheers

Ken, thanx for responding.
I've used both authentication methods: local windows accounts then
uninstalled, deleted user profile and used encrypted password. Neither allows
me to logon.

The error you are getting below - is that caused when you are using the
"encrypted password" authentication system?
Also, what are you using for your username? Just "username" or
username RemoveThis @domain.com?
cheers
