A site I am working on has several non-HTML documents (Word, Excel, PDF, and
Zip files). Pages in the site have links to these documents; if you click on
the links the documents open in new windows.

Instead of opening new windows we would rather have a pop-up that asks if
they want to open the document or save to their local disk. Is there a
setting we can make on the server so that the documents won't automatically
load in a window?

Much obliged.

No, this is a client-specific setting. Specifically, these settings can be
managed via Windows Explorer, by changing the file association settings for
opening in-line.

Thanks, I that makes sense. The server just sends a document; it is up to
the client to decide what to do with it.
