Post subject: Net 2.0 web apps do not run
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

I just set up an IIS 6.0 server (Windows 2003 R2) with 6 standalone sites.
This is to move the sites from IIS 5 to IIS6 on an upgraded server box.

Three of the sites running under .Net 1.1 are fine; but the rest running
under .Net 2.0 are showing "The page cannot be found" no matter how I enter
the URL, such as http://SiteApp or http://SiteApp/login.aspx.

These sites used to be running under IIS 5 as subwebs, instead of standalone
sites, each with a dedicated IP address and its own URL.

Thanks - TL

Try to visit the webpage using WFetch and post anything that you don't
understand here...

Secondly what do you see in the IIS Logs for these web pages that are not
accessible. I'm interested in the Satus codes. That would give you more
information as to what is happening.

Thanks for helping.

I set up the system for my developer. He told me today that he had to
manually add "ASP .NET V2" to "Web Service Extensions" in IIS, and the apps
are working now. He said he didn't need to do this on other IIS 6.0 servers.

Regards - TL

This issue is usually seen when .net framwork is installed prior to IIS.

You can also use the aspnet_regiis utility to add the version ASP.net to
IIS web service extension list:

\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\[version number]>aspnet_regiis -ir -enable

Thanks.
