Post subject: Monitoring hits
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Hi,

Today is the first day that my company intranet has gone
live. Is there an easy way that I can monitor how many
hits the web site has had? I am using IIS without any
server extensions at the moment.

Thanks,

Andy

yeah, just analyze IIS's logfiles. you'll find lots of logfile analyzers
around - Webtrends is good, if expensive. try www.aspin.com for a
listing...

don't get confused with hits versus users. Hit's are a
useless metric. You'll want to see how many user sessions
you are getting.

Hi,

You can analyse the log files. Here's a list of software that can do it for
you:

You actually want to watch both. There really is no sure way to identify
users sessions (due to NAT, proxy servers, cookies turned off and so on).
