Hi

We have a third party component that converts html to pdf (http://
www.html-to-pdf.net/Features.aspx) and we have it installed on 2
asp.net web applications that are deployed to the same server under
different web sites.

one of the sites works fine, however the main site does no display
images and will not apply css styles to the uotputted pdf file.

the only config difference between the 2 websites is that one is
configured for SSL (the one that is not working) and the other site is
no configured for SSL.

we have followed all the steps in the FAQ at the html-to-pdf website
and have ensured that the paths are correct etc via SSL and non-SSL.

We can successfully browse the images in a browser via HHTP and HTTPS
using the paths supplied to the component.

To be honest this is a serious deployment issue now so any suggestions
would be welcomed.

Many thanks

Steve

I would verifiy with absolute certainty that the paths for those things are
proper absolute from root referecnce.

Also note, BOTH these sites are SSL? And they have separate certificates
running on separate virtual webs with separate IP addresses?

If the above is all correct, you are going to need to get in with the vendor
of that third party app, this doesn't seem like an IIS problem.

Hi Steve,

It sounds like the references to the images and css files are not correct.

I would recommend you to contact the support personel of this html-to-pdf
component because they can best help you with configuration issues of this
component. It does not seem to be a problem with IIS.

Hi thanks for your reply,

We have tried both literal and relative paths with no success under
SSL.

No, one site is SSL and the other isn't. The problem only relates to
the server with SSL installed. We have contacted the support people of
the app and are talking to them now but with very little resolution as
they are insisting it is an SSL problem. I have installed SSL locally
(SelfSSL) and can repplicate the same problems locally.

Thanks

Steve

It sounds like PDF does not know how to deal with SSL to retrieve
resources for display. IIS is perfectly able to allow the content to
be downloaded -- try to fetch one of those images or CSS under HTTPS
with a Web Browser to prove it. If you can retrieve the same image
under HTTPS with a Web Browser, but that same image fails to load
under PDF, it's a PDF problem.
