Post subject: Microsoft Antispyware
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Am having a lot of trouble with my computer on and off. I have a Compaq
SR1550NX purchased this past August. Windows XP operating system With
Norton Security. Microsoft Antispyware came on the computer. I have run
Nortons and have no viruses that it detects (it has been updated) I cannot
open Microsoft Antispyware to check for spyware. I am getting several error
messages which read as follow when I first try to open: ERROR 1904
C:\WINDOWS\system32\GCCollection.dll failed to register. HRESULT-2147220473.
Contact your support Personnel. Followed by: UNEXPECTED ERROR! QUITTING
I contacted HP tech support and followed their instructions several times
for uninstalling and reinstalling. When I try to uninstall I get: ERROR
1905 Module C:\Programfiles\microsoftantispywar\gcAssoaplib.dll failed to
unregister. HRESULT -2147220472 Contact support...Tech support then told me
to do a system restore. I did one restore with no success opening
antispyware; did a second restore with no success and now when I try to
restore to an earlier date I get a message saying that the system is unable
to restore to that date, pick another; which I have tried to do several times
with no success.
HP Tech support has a software download for sending my computer info to
them to help in finding the problem- however- my system will not do it. It
acts as though it has downloaded the software- but when I try to send the
computer system info and begin a chat session- nothing happens...... I am at
my wits end. Can anyone help?
