Hi,

What is the best way to get visitors who visit your web site to sign up for
a news letter?
Just putting the possibility to sign up on the web site does not work
really...
Anyone has the 'golden' idea?

Thx

Ronald

Offer content that people want. Don't just say 'newletter,' tell them
what they can expect if they sign up. Post a privacy policy outlining
all the possible uses of the data that they submit from the form.

Post online the last two newsletters you sent so people have an idea what
you're offering. You can offer drawings based on joined email addresses for
free services or products.

Why do you say signups do not work? All the newsletters invitations I have
seen offer only signups.

it doesn't? It has been working just fine for me...
Of course I included it on more than one page.
I have no other ideas but then I have been doing
fine subscriber-wise...

Good luck,
Heidi

Some offer freebies if you sign up: prize draw, free samples etc. That way you
get to advertise your newsletter for free on all the freebie sites. Of course
you then have to write compelling content that people want to read, otherwise
you will just attract all the freebie-hunters who will unsubscribe after the
first letter and who aren't really interested in what you have to offer.

YES, honestly, I have.

Offer a free t-shirt, under the small print terms and conditions add a
clause that by claiming a free t-shirt they agree to subscribe to your
newsletter.

This is a sneaky and common way of doing it (a lot of software
installs spyware in this way, and people agree to it in the license
without reading it, so I'm told).

Or you can be more liberal I mean honest and say "subscribe to our
newsletter and receive a free T-shirt!"

Regards

Matt

Wise words, indeed.

I said free T-shirt (they are VERY popular), Alice says 'freebies' but
they amount to much the same thing, but Alice makes a good point
regarding the content of the newsletter, if its all hot air people
will unsubscribe quicker than Labour party members after a war with
Iraq!
