Post subject: Login Problem
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Setup:
Pentium4/2.4/512MB RAM
Win2003 Web Server/IIS6
ISA Server 2000 Enterprise Edition

Part of my site is private and uses are challenged for a login. Most IE
users receive the challenge and are able to access the private areas of the
site. However, some IE users and most Netscape 7 and 7.1 users don't even
receive the login challenge. Instead, they are receiving the following
error:

"You are not authorized to view this page"

I am wondering if I have something setup improperly in IIS6. Or, is it more
likely that ISA is causing this. When I was running the same site on
NT4with IIS4 users never had this problem.

TIA for any help,
mux

1) Windows authentication won't work with Netscape, it refuses to
pass credentials.

2) IE won't pass credentials for sites it doesn't believe are in the
intranet zone (or otherwise safe).

3) Use basic authentication.
